Durga Puja comprises ten days of festivities in India, ending in the major Hindu festival Dashami, or Dussera, a celebration of the triumph of good over evil.

During the nine days preceding the big day of victory, people celebrate Navaratri, welcoming the goddess.

Check out this children's book Celebrate Durga Puja With Me, by Shoumi Sen, a lovely picture book for kids of all ages, which is part of The Toddler Diaries, a lovely compilation of Hindu festivals in simple, clear, beautiful pictures.

Ebook available for $2.99, paperback for $9.99.

Shoumi Sen is a Strategy, Sales and Marketing professional at a leading global energy management company and currently lives in Los Angeles, California with her husband and 3 year old daughter. Her childhood in Paris, Bombay and Dubai provided her with opportunities to appreciate how Indians preserve their cultural connectedness even while living abroad.

Shoumi Sen, a mother of Asian Indian descent, decided to write her own stories to teach her daughter about her culture. She created "From The Toddler Diaries" which started as a collection of poems she wrote for her daughter and shared with other children.Inspired by interest from kids and encouraged by their parents, she decided to publish the collection."

Her widely acclaimed book 'Celebrate Durga Puja With Me!' portrays the culture and celebration ofDurga Puja as experienced by 3 year old Riya. The book has a pronouncedBengali connection, but is universal to Durga Puja celebrations across several communities.
This is her first published book and has provided inspiration for other authors. 'I am happy that this could mean more literature available to our kids in an environment wherediverse books are still hard to come by.'
